Save Money

Rakuten is my favorite money-saving tool! You can get cash back at 2,500+ stores, that means not just the expensive ones. Download the Chrome extension and Rakuten will tell you anytime there’s cash back available.

Honey has become an invaluable tool for me. Whenever I buy something online it scans the internet for coupons and oftentimes saves me 20-40%. I can also save items to the Droplist and Honey will alert me when there’s a price drop!

I love using discounted gift cards from Raise. I can buy them with my rewards credit card, get cash back from Rakuten, and save an extra 4-10% wherever I shop! Gift cards are also a great substitute for cash envelopes.

Save Even More on Groceries

Buying groceries online saves me so much time and helps me stick to my budget. No more walking through the store with a calculator! I still love Aldi but I use Walmart Grocery more now because it’s free to pick up and it has a lot more variety.

Erin Chase has the most COMPREHENSIVE Grocery Budget Makeover course. It covers everything from meal planning and time-saving kitchen hacks to making dinnertime more enjoyable. She also has a free version!

Cook Smarts is done-for-you meal planning that’s as easy as it is affordable. Every week includes ingredients from the last helping me cut down on food waste and the ingredients are always easy to find and low-cost but somehow always exciting! I’m obsessed with Cook Smarts and I know you will be too!

Best Money Saving Apps

Personal Capital is how I manage all my finances. It allows me to see all my accounts, investments, and my net worth in one place. They even give you a $20 Amazon gift card when you link a 401(k), IRA, 529 plan, or any investment account with at least $1,000 in it!

If I’m sitting around waiting somewhere I’m not scrolling Facebook, I’m doing tasks that’ll get me free gift cards from Swagbucks. It’s the only survey site I use because you can earn rewards through a variety of ways, not just surveys.

Ibotta is a grocery rebate app that gives you cash back on things you’d buy anyway. What sets it apart is its rebates on generic items so you don’t have to spend more to save. And it offers up to $20 in welcome bonuses!

Save Better

Worthy isn’t a traditional savings account. You can buy bonds for $10 each that support American small businesses and earn 5% interest on your investment. The account isn’t FDIC insured but it’s not tied to the market so I haven’t lost any money.

I chose Collegebacker to open Kai’s 529 because it’s connected to a great investment portfolio (Utah’s My529) and has a great web experience so I know it’ll be easier for friends and family to contribute.

Albert analyzes your income and spending throughout the week and finds extra cash to save automatically. This is great for anyone who’s new to saving or worried they don’t make enough to save. You can save hundreds without realizing. Best of all, it’s free!
